Balanga: Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan awardee

Balanga City is Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources’ (BFAR) Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan Outstanding Coastal Community regional winner 2021, for which it received P2 million worth of fisheries livelihood projects as award. Balanga City qualifies to compete for the national level. The winner will be announced in the coming Fish Conservation Week in October.

The tandem of Mayor Francis Garcia and Vice Mayor Vianca Venzon-Gozon has been successful in the fight against illegal fishing. They, with the support of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and coastal barangays, initiated programs to keep the coastal areas free from garbage.

Mangrove-planting is also a regular program in tie up with other government agencies and NGOs.
